Savoury Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tbsp salt
  • ¼ tbsp baking soda
  • ½ cup Lactantia salted butter, cold
  • 2 cups Black Diamond Extra Old Cheddar, grated
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • ¾ cup Beatrice buttermilk
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until crumbly. Stir in Black Diamond Extra Old Cheddar and basil. Add buttermilk to flour mixture, mixing lightly with fork until just combined.
  3. Turn dough out onto floured board. Knead gently 20 times. Pat or roll dough to ½“ thickness. Cut with floured 2¼“ cookie cutter; place on greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake for 9 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325°F and bake another 9 minutes or until golden.
